One Can Only Hope

about

One Can Only Hope talks about a time right after the honeymoon period, where you start to learn about your partner's flaws and how to work towards compromise, letting small things that bother you go because you have to pick your battles otherwise there'd be too many things to fight about all the time. In some arguments, it’s just a difference in opinions and nobody’s at fault, so you just have to agree to disagree.

lyrics

How many times do I have to go through
Square one
How many easter eggs will I find
It's not that kind of fun

I know it's not on you
And I know it's in the past
But still, it gets me, like indigestion,
When I eat too fast

Well I'll just sit and wait, and eat and hate
Until this feeling's gone
There is no cure, no right solution
I just have to move on
When the time comes I'll be fine again
I just hope that this won't repeat again
But one can only hope

How many thoughts do I have to think
Before I stop thinking about it?
Is this moving forward? Backward? Sideways?
Maybe it's time to quit?

I still know it's not on you
And I know it's in the past
But still, it gets me, like when
My period's late from stress

Well I'll just sit and wait, and eat and hate
Until this feeling's gone
There is no cure, no right solution
I just have to move on
When the time comes I'll be fine again
I just hope that this won't repeat again
But one can only hope

Okay, I think I got it this time
But who's to say that it'll be the last time
Well, one can only hope

One can only hope, oh
Oh i’ll just sit and wait, and eat and hate

Well I'll just sit and wait, and eat and hate
Until this feeling's gone
There is no cure, no right solution
I just have to move on
When the time comes I'll be fine again
I just hope that this won't repeat again
But one can only hope
